Title : “How To Succeed In The Advertising/ Design Industry”
A Short Brief of Huang:
Hwa began his career as a Paintbox Artist in a post production house in 1990. After 3 years of working on other people’s ads, he decided to join an agency as an art director to do his own.
He then spent the next 6 years at Leo Burnett, rising to the rank of Creative Group Head.
He then joined BBDO with his creative partner, Szu as joint creative Directors in 1999.
Joining McCann Erickson Malaysia in 2002 as Executive Creative Director, Hwa was promoted to Deputy Chairman, McCann Worldgroup Malaysia in 2006.
He sits on the McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific Management Board and is a member of the Regional Creative Council.
Hwa has the distinction of winning Malaysia’s first Cannes Gold Lion in 1999. Under his leadership, McCann Malaysia won 2 consecutive Malaysian Grand Prix and was named Agency of the Year in 2005 and 2006.
PS2 work from the agency was ranked in the top 20 of the 2006 Gunn Report as one of the world’s most awarded and work for Artline is recognized as 7th most awarded in the 2007 Gunn Report.
In 2008, Campaign Brief Asia named McCann Malaysia 2008 Malaysian Agency of the Year. The agency is also ranked 9th overall in Asia in Campaign Brief Asia’s 2008 creative rankings.
He has won over 400 awards but unfortunately has never won the lottery.

An Hour of Fresh Air: TSUKIJI - World's Largest Fish Market 19 January, 2011, 10:44 am by Admin FionaDear Students,
Come and join us on a live group forum! Students and lectures can take part in the discussion and topic exploration, from questioning the latest mind-boggling movies to sharing a piece of observation on people and places, whatever inspires.
This event aimed to provide a nurturing avenue that encourages creative thinking and interaction, exchanging ideas as well as the discovery of new ways of looking at things in a broader perspective by proving a casual, informal environment for all to digest on the topics discussed.
TSUKIJI, is not just an ordinary fish market. It is the BIGGEST in the world with a traffic of 100,000 people going in and out of 850 stalls. 50,000 tons of fish is traded daily with hundreds of millions of dollars changing hands. Its famous auctions have attracted millions of tourists worldwide.
Episode 1: Going going gone
This episode unveils the reason why Tsukiji market is a must-go place in Tokyo. It's all in the auction. Held every morning at 5.30am, it is where the wheeling and dealing for extremely high quality tuna fish is being carried out. Visitors run all over the world never fail to be amazed at how organized the process is. It is a very unique Japanese feature which cannot be duplicated anywhere in the world.
Episode 2: A Fish called Wonder!
The one thing that keeps the Tsukiji Market going strong for centuries is its dedication to keeping all its seafood as fresh as it were alive, literally. This episode goes behind the scenes to find out the secret of the freshness and how within 450 square meters of space, 65,000 registered employees conduct their business everyday. How do they handle the tons of physical material like the ice and Styrofoam boxes used to keep the fish fresh as there is no refrigeration in the market? How does one manage a market like this or does it manage by itself?
Date: 22/1/2011 (Saturday)
Time: 10.30am – 12.00 noon
Venue: A1 Classroom
Topic: TSUKIJI - World's Largest Fish Market (Episode 1 & Episode 2)

IMPORTANT: Personal Safety Precautions 18 September, 2009, 9:00 am by TOA AdministratorDear fellow students & staff,
We would like to take this opportunity to bring to your attention about alleged reports on suspicious individuals and vehicles loitering around Bandar Sunway during the morning and evening hours. As crime tends to happens when one least expects it, prevention is always better than cure. And TOA management would like to extend a message on personal safety precautions.
By taking a few simple precautions, you can reduce the risk to yourself and also discourage those who commit crime.
Be prepared....
• Always be alert and aware of the people around you.
• Educate yourself concerning prevention tactics.
• Be aware of locations/situations which would make you vulnerable to crime, such as alleys and dark parking lots.
• Street precautions...
• Be alert to your surroundings and the people around you, especially if you are alone or it is dark.
• Whenever possible, travel with a friend or as part of a group.
• Stay in well-lighted areas as much as possible.
• Walk close to the curb. Avoid doorways, bushes and alleys where someone could hide.
• Walk confidently and at a steady pace.
• Make eye contact with people when walking - let them know that you have noticed their presence.
• Do not respond to conversation from strangers on the street or in a car - continue walking.
• If you carry a purse, hold it securely between your arm and body or consider wearing a fanny pack.
Vehicle Safety...
• Always lock doors after entering or leaving your vehicle.
• Park in well-lighted areas and away from shrubs or other potential hiding places.
• Have your keys ready in your hand as you approach your vehicle to unlock it.
• Check the back seat before entering your vehicle.
• If you think you are being followed, drive to a public place like a police station, gas station or hospital emergency entrance.
• If your vehicle breaks down, open the hood and attach a white cloth to the antenna or put a CALL THE POLICE sign in the rear window. Stay locked inside your car, and if someone stops to assist you, roll down the window only slightly and ask them to call for assistance.
• Consider buying a cellular phone for ready access to emergency communication.
• Don’t stop to aid motorists stopped on the side of the road. Call and request help for them.
• Keep your vehicle maintenance current and always have a FULL tank of gas!
While waiting for a bus....
• Avoid isolated bus stops.
• Stand away from the curb until the bus arrives.
• Don't open your purse or wallet while boarding the bus - have your pass or money already in your hand.
• Don't invite trouble by flashing your jewelry - hide it under a collar, turn ring stones around so that they don't show or leave them at home.
While riding on the bus...
• Sit as close to the bus driver as possible.
• Stay alert and be aware of the people around you.
• If someone bothers you, change seats and tell the driver.
• Keep your purse/packages close by your side. Keep your wallet inside a front coat pocket.
• Check your purse/wallet if someone is jostling, crowding or pushing you.
• If you see any suspicious activity, inform the driver.
Office/Classroom security...
• Never leave your purse or wallet in plain view or in the pocket of a jacket hanging on a door.
• Don't leave cash or valuables at the office.
• If you work alone or before/after normal business hours, keep the office door locked.
• If you work late, try to find another worker or a security guard to walk out with you.
• If you are in the elevator with another person, stand near the control panel. If someone gets on that makes you feel uncomfortable, get off immediately and wait for another elevator.
• Be alert for pickpockets on crowded elevators or escalators.
• Report all suspicious persons/circumstances to the proper authorities: office manager, building security and/or the police.
• Be aware of all escape routes for emergencies and post police business and emergency numbers.
